State Chess Tourney

Check and Mate!  Nathan Bingham, son of Michael and Gina Bingham, a fifth grader in Mrs. Sleight's Sage Creek fifth grade class took 6th place in the state chess tournament this past week.   Alan Bird, Sydney, Adam, Rebecca and Samual Gee, and Taylor Shaw also competed from Sage Creek.  There were approximately one hundred contestants in Nathan's age division and he out-maneuvered each of his opponents to place in the top six.  Nathan Bingham:  no chess "rookie"!  Congratulations Nate!


Fourth graders from Mrs. Robbins' class at Sage Creek Elementary celebrated Dr. Suess Day by reading the Suess story “ Bartholomew and the Oobleck.”     They were amazed that the King thought that he could actually change the weather .  They decided to make their own oobleck.  Once they had seen the chemical change, and experimented with the oobleck, they concluded that oobleck was:   sticky, messy, disgusting, amazing and….. FUN!!!!

Fourth Grade Frogs

Frog jumping races were the item of the day in Mrs. Robbins fourth grade class this week.  Incorporating art  and science into their math lesson, students folded their own frogs, then took turns jumping and measuring how far they could jump.  In small groups they worked together to fin\d the average jumping distance then graphed their findings.  Measurement is an important part of the fourth grade math core.  Who knew paper frogs could be teachers too!

February Determined Dragons

At Sage Creek Elementary, classes are taught weekly the following Character Education skills:  how to show appreciation, accept responsibility, and make good choices.  These students have been chosen to be the Determined Dragons for the month of February because they have made our school a better place by using their Character Education skills.  They are:  Caden Atkinson, Cole Bailey, Cutler Christensen, Cashlynn Chruma, Swazie Evans, Andrew Florence, Adam golding, Abbi Jeffrey, Carter Johnston, Amy Lemus, Kailani Luna, Ruby Madsen, Isabella Namanny, Lily Namanny, Josh Nicol, Sydnie Nilsson

Dr. Seuss' Crazy Hat Day in 2nd Grade

Dr. Seuss we love you ... Dr. Seuss we really do ... With your rhymes so crazy ... We can read because of you!!   On March 2nd, Sage Creek Elementary celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday in grand style!   Students and teachers alike wore crazy hats all day to pay homage to The Cat in the Hat, one of Seuss' most famous books.  Dr. Seuss will always be alive at Sage Creek!  Dr. Seuss we love you!!

District Science Fair Winners

Sage Creek rocked the district level science fair with eighteen of their twenty-two entries receiving some type of an award.  This year the winners are:  Fifth Grade:  Ashley White, Peyton Nackos, Kaiden Exon, Emme Smith, Ella Nelson, Nathan Bingham, Tyler Glazier and Cade Barrows. Sixth grade winners were:  Emily Ells, Ali Hawks, Amy Botherby, Madi Child, Spencer Bartholomew, Brooklyn Day, Derek Heiner, Haley Green, Brett Bodily and Josh Eaton.  Congratulations to these awesome students who are able to show others that science is fun AND rewarding!

Mother Goose

Mrs. Beesley’s first grade class at Sage Creek Elementary held their yearly Mother Goose Poetry Day. Every year Mrs. Beesley has all the children in her first grade dress up and recite a Mother Goose Poem. The children came dressed up as characters like Little Miss Muffet, Old King Cole, Hey Diddle Diddle, Humpty Dumpty etc.

2nd grade Science Fair

At Sage Creek Elementary we had our very own Second Grade Science Fair on Wednesday, February 8th. Each class focused on a second grade core topic and conducted simple experiments and observations. We placed our projects on display in our individual classrooms and rotated through each room to see what was discovered. Thanks for your encouragement and excitement for science!!

6th Grade Science Fair

Sage Creek Elementary sixth grade science fair winners and alternates were Madi Child, Spencer Bartholomew, Brooklyn Day, Amy Botcherby, Alli Hawks, Derek Heiner, Haley Green, Sara Jeffery  & Claire Hall, Alec Dookhran & Josh Storrs, Audrey Ridge, Brett Bodily,  and Josh Eaton.  Alternates: Nate Antares, Kole Sleight & Emily Ells.  Congratulations to all of these students on their science success.

100th Day of School/2nd grade

Tuesday, January 31st, was the 100th day of school for second graders at Sage Creek Elementary!  "It's the 100th day of school today ... let's start the day with a grin. For tomorrow will be 101 .. so let the celebrations begin!" There were all kinds of fun activities to celebrate having spent 100 exciting days learning, i.e., 100 piece puzzles, triple-digit math problems, games with the hundred board, read 100 books, write 100 words, etc.  At the end of the day, we made 100th Day Stew with each students' 100 items they brought to add!
