Sage Creek Celebrates National Poetry Month

Submitted by alison.hansen on

April is National Poetry Month and we've spent the month in the library doing lots of different fun activities involving reading and writing poetry.  One of the activities that the 4th, 5th and 6th graders participated in was writing "Blackout Poetry".  It was so much fun watching the students explore pages to find just the right words to describe everything from feeling sick to family relationships.  Abbie did a particularly outstanding job so we wanted to share it.

Sage Creek Pottery

Submitted by anthony.bowden on

Mr. Bowden and Ms. Scott's classes have been creating with clay!  During their ancient civilizations units, they learned about the importance of pottery in the every-day lives of our ancestors. After learning how to make pinch, coil, and slab pots, the 6th graders got to make a pot of their own.  After drying for several weeks and getting kiln fired at 1900 degrees, today they were ready for glazing! After one more firing, they will be ready to take home.  Extra special thanks to the Springville Arts Commission for giving Ms. Scott a grant to cover the cost of clay, glaze, and brushes!
