We celebrated the Chinese Lunar New Year on Friday, January 20th! Students shared red, ornate envelopes with one another. The color red symbolizes energy and good luck! This is the year of the Rabbit. DLI students taught our traditional students to say, "Happy New Year" (xin nian quai le) or '年年有余,岁岁平安', which means "May you always get more than you wish for and may you start safe and sound all year round", in Mandarin. Many students and teachers also wore traditional Chinese dress. Happy Chinese New Year!
Congratulations to the Dragons of the Week for January 17-20!
Ms. Robison is our Skill Building Technician at Sage Creek. Skill Building offers an environment in which students can complete assignments, receive additional support, and obtain guidance in strengthening life skills. She is an AMAZING support to both students and faculty!
The kindergarten students are working on their self-portraits. These portraits provide a glimpse into kindergarteners thinking, fine-motor skills, organization and observations. Their completed work shows reflection and persistence! Well done, kindergarteners!
Ms. Johnson's 5th grade class had an archaeologist visit because they won an archaeology scavenger hunt competition from the Utah State Historic Preservation Office. Students learned how to use atlatls that helped with throwing spears. They threw them at target woolly mammoths! So cool!
Mrs. Shaffer is our new ESSER teacher. ESSER is a formal name for Reading Intervention. Ms. Shaffer's position is funded through a grant, with the purpose of providing a trained educator to fill in literacy gaps due to Covid. She loves working in small groups, grades 1 through 5. It has been delightful to see the success of the students as they learn. We love Ms. Shaffer! Keep calm and keep on reading!
