September 17th, Sage Creek Elementary School students celebrated Constitution Day by gathering at the flagpole to raise the flag, pledge to the flag and listen to the talented Mr. Courtney Curtis, our own third grade teacher, pay tribute to our country by singing the national anthem. Later in the day, students had the opportunity to watch and listen to President Obama's address to the school children of America and have discussions within their classrooms about the many freedoms afforded to us through the Constitution of the United States.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2009, Sage Creek Elementary had the opportunity to highlight it’s student council election process to the Nebo Board of Education. Sixth-grade student, Shae Christensen, talked about why she wanted to be on the student council at Sage Creek. She was followed by student council advisor, Janeen Scott, who spoke about the requirements necessary to and the service provided by the Sage Creek student council. Students who want to be on the council must be nominated by their peers, recommended by their teachers, write a 250 word essay describing how they intend to help make Sage Creek a better place, and provide at least five hours of service to the community prior to the election – which in and of itself accounts for less than half the points required to be elected. In past years the Sage Creek Student Council has sponsored drives for Operation Smile, Increased Recycling, Box-Tops for Education, and Sub for Santa programs, In addition to serving in the book-exchange programs, fall carnival, school wide clean-up and Healthy Lifestyle activities. It is the goal of Sage Creek Elementary to help students recognize their responsibility and the opportunities they have to make their school, their community, and their world a better place for all. Sage Creek student council leads the way.

“Sit on the chair seat, back straight and tall. Feet on the floor but that’s not all… Fingers curve and touch their home, My elbows down; They never roam!” This is just one of the chants third grade students in Mrs. Reber’s class at Sage Creek Elementary use to remember proper computer etiquette during Keyboard Chatter instruction. All third graders spend thirty minutes each day in the computer lab for twenty days learning how to properly use the computer keyboard. Sage Creek is home to computer savvy students!
