Under the direction of teachers, Dayna Tanner, Michelle Porter, and Cami Thomas and with the help and support of many parents, Kindergarten students at Sage Creek Elementary enjoyed an early Thanksgiving feast on Monday, November 24. Students, dressed as Pilgrims and Native Americans, worked together to set the long table, prepare the food, and serve the delicious meal. This annual activity culminates their study of the First Thanksgiving as part of the Kindergarten Utah State Core Curriculum.

Brigham Young University’s Bean Museum made a special visit to the fourth grade on November 17, to share some information about Utah’s plants and animals. The fourth grade learned about 3 major ecosystems in Utah, and some of the plants and animals both dead and alive that lived in each one. They were able to see a live Pac-man Frog, and they learned about how it can breathe through its skin. They also saw a Bearded Dragon, which is a lizard that lives in Australia. Each student even got to touch the lizard’s scaly back! They left the scariest for the last, they brought out a real-life snake! Some students even got the opportunity to hold the snake for a picture. The fourth graders had a lot of fun learning about all of the different animals, and give a big “thanks” to the Bean Museum for sharing their animals with us!

Sage Creek Elementary students were treated to a delightful performance and learning experience from the Arts Resources for teachers and Students (ARTS) ensemble, /Sounding Brass. / Students were not only exposed to great music, but learned how the brass instruments are played, the different sounds of the tuba, French horn, trumpet and trombone, and how these musical instruments evolved. Students of all ages were heard saying "It was the best program ever!", "Awesome" and "I want to do that!" as they left the assembly. Thank you Sounding Brass for helping Sage Creek students get excited about music!

At Sage Creek Elementary, classes are taught weekly the following Character Education skills: how to show appreciation, accept responsibility, and make good choices. These students have been chosen to be the Determined Dragons for the month of October, because they have made our school a better place by using these Character Education skills. Under the direction of teachers, Cami Thomas, Dayna Tanner and Michelle Porter, Sage Creek Kindergarten ghosts, goblins, spidermen, fairies and princesses presented their annual Halloween Program to parents and students on Wednesday, October 28th. This much anticipated event engages students in singing a variety of spooky songs with enthusiasm and fun actions. Parents and students of the school look forward to this delightful kindergarten program and consider it one of their favorites!

Sage Creek Elementary kicked off their RED RIBBON WEEK with an assembly featuring five Springville residents who have made a positive difference in the community. This year's Red Ribbon Theme is "Stand Tall-Make a Difference". Each participant explained how they chose to make a difference by their personal convictions and life choices. Thanks to Tiffany Ashman, Candace Ross, Scott Hansen, Dustin Porter and Shelby Porter for sharing yourselves with us and inspiring us to Stand Tall and Make a Difference in our community and in the world.

Sage Creek First Grade Teacher, Mrs. Peggy Beesley, was honored by Sage Creek PTA and school staff at the October PTA Area Council Meeting. After raising her own children Mrs. Beesley began teaching in her "dream job" as a first grade teacher at Sage Creek where she has remained for the past seventeen years. Mrs. Beesley always puts in extra hours of her own time, and uses part of her salary to make sure her classroom is always top notch! Her classroom is always a "buzz" with the sounds of learning. Most importantly Mrs. Beesley loves her students and they love her right back! Thank you, Mrs. Beesley, for all you do for the children at Sage Creek.

Kindergarten students at Sage Creek Elementary enjoyed learning a new letter and sound with an awesome alphabet activity. Students were introduced to the letter “L” by participating in a Hawaiian Luau. Students wore leis, learned to hula, and limboed their way through a variety of activities that emphasized or used the letter L in some way. Mahalo to our great kindergarten teachers for making learning fun!
