The holiday spirit came to Sage Creek Elementary in the form of Springville Junior High Students who shared their musical and dancing talents in an assembly for all Sage Creek Students. Under the direction of teacher, Leslie Walker, these Jr. High School students sang a variety of holiday tunes and performed a special dance number for the elementary students. Sage Creek students were captivated by the poise and professionalism of their Jr. High counterparts, and were delighted with the festive spirit they brought into the school. This week Mrs. LoriAnn Sleight was chosen by her colleagues to receive the Nebo School District Association Crystal Apple Award at Sage Creek Elementary School for outstanding performance as a teacher. Mrs. Sleight has been a teacher at Sage Creek for over twenty years. She spent the first nineteen years in second grade before moving to fifth grade two years ago. However, anyone that has ever watched her interact with fifth graders would guess that she had worked with them her entire career.

Mrs. Sleight has a passion for teaching and motivates others to do the best they can do. She brings an enthusiasm to school each day that is unmatched. She works hard and expects her students to do the same. She is dedicated to the success of her “kids” and works furiously to help them achieve their potential, often tutoring her students during recess or her preparation time, yet she never boasting about going the extra mile.

Mrs. Sleight is dedicated to the success of each of her students. She consistently strives to reach each one and create and maintain a caring relationship with them. She makes her classroom a place where each student feels needed and cared for. She spends countless hours researching, preparing, and planning meaningful lessons that the students enjoy.

A a team player, Mrs. Sleight helps the fifth grade team collaborate effectively and meaningfully and provides the team with great ideas and resources to better serve all students. She has a fabulous sense of humor and laugh, which helps to keep the faculty and staff sane when times are stressful.

Outside of the classroom, her colleagues consider Mrs. Sleight a great friend. Noting, “She is the type of person that will do anything for anyone”.

We are so grateful to have Mrs. Sleight as part of our Sage Creek family and congratulate her on receiving this distinguished and well-deserved recognition.
