Early Learning Essentials
Early Learning Essentials (Mountainland Head Start) is a non-profit Head Start Preschool. We offer free preschool services to low-income and disadvantaged children ages 3 & 4. Children enrolled in our program get access to free school meals, Family Services, Disability & Mental Health, Nutrition & Health Services, and much more!
Kind Kids of the Quarter
As Term 1 came to an end, our teachers selected one student from each class to be our Kind Kid of the Quarter. Kindness has been our focus during Term 1. Each term, Principal Youd introduces the attribute for the quarter during the "Principal’s Read Aloud" and then students spend the entire term strengthening that attribute. Students nominated for the quarterly award receive a certificate, a swag bag with Sage Creek items, and a surprise yard sign at their house! New Kind Kids of the Quarter will be selected each term.
Third Grade Field Trip
Third grade students visited BYU Museums last week! They learned about animals traits at the Bean Museum and viewed artwork and made postcards at the Museum of Art.
Walk and Roll Challenge
The Walk & Roll Challenge rewards students K-8 with monthly prizes for walking and biking to school. It runs from September 3 to May 15. Students track and enter daily progress online by the end of each month. Winners are chosen the first week of the following month.
Parents who allow their kids to walk or bike to school can also win prizes in a separate drawing.
Kids who walk, bike or scooter to school:
- Improve their academic performance
- Develop healthy, active habits
- Lower anxiety and increase focus
- Decrease drop-off and pick-up congestion
- Reduce air pollution

Mental Health Screener Night
Nebo District is offering a mental health screener for students from 4 pm to 8 pm Monday, October 7, 2024, at Diamond Fork Middle School. We will be using Terrace Metrics software to measure mental and emotional strengths, as well as screen for anxiety, depression, and suicidal ideation of students in grades 6-12. Students in grades 3-5 may participate as well, and that screener will measure mental and emotional strengths, as well as screen for anxiety and depression.
If you would like to participate, please sign up here for an appointment. The assessment tool takes an average of 15 minutes to complete. Afterward, you and your student will meet with a school counselor or social worker to discuss the results of the assessment and receive resources as needed.
Link to Parent Information Video (2.5 minutes)
Prior to taking the mental health screener, a consent form needs to be completed by the parent/guardian. The consent form will be available upon arrival.
If you have any questions, please contact your school counselor.
